My First Day At Art Class
A couple months ago, my dad (Tom Donovan) told me that he knew a man named Mr. Rick. Mr. Rick is an artist, and he teaches other people how to be one. On Jan. 14th (Thursday), I went to my first art class. When I got there, I was a little nervous. Mr. Rick told me to sit down and start copying what he drew that he hung in front of the classroom. So I started drawing a picture of Patrick holding a net trying to catch a jellyfish. I drew a couple of the other pictures too. After that, he gave us clay and some toothpicks. He showed us how to make a sculpture. He demonstrated by making a dragon out of the clay and toothpicks. Then he told us to sculpt something. I decided to sculpt Squidward's house (from Sponge Bob). And we were finished sculpting, we put it on a table. Then I went back to drawing more pictures of his work.
Then we had a contest. You could only get one of his pictures that you drew. But if anybody else drew that same picture, the students would judge to see which one was better. The one that was better would get Mr. Rick's picture and keep their own pictures too. But if you were the only person to draw it, then you get it immediately. But if you didn't win anything at the end of the contest, all you had to do was pick your favorite picture that was still hanging.
I can't wait for the next Thursday!!!
